With great sadness, we share the loss of Robert "Bob" Ferran, who passed away on February 6, 2026, surrounded by his children at Intermountain Medical Center in
Murray, UT.
Born in Orem in 1956 to Elias and Theodora Ferran, Bob was the youngest of six siblings. He spent his childhood playing sports and getting into trouble with his nephew (and best friend) Greg Ferran. His era of rebellion included tucking his too-long hair into a wig to bypass school dress codes and (allegedly) stealing a car.
Above everything else, Bob was a true fan of the game of baseball (generally) and the New York Yankees (specifically). He was a pillar of the baseball community in Utah, serving as the Director of the Utah American Legion (2002). He coached his son at Kearns High School and was Head Coach at Judge Memorial High School (1998-2001). He would later coach his grandson's Little League baseball team. Bob was an all-too passionate fan and coach, unafraid to get ejected from a game. In these (not uncommon) instances, he could be spotted across the street still watching his team play. He will be especially missed each year during Spring Training, his favorite time of the year.
Bob was funny and charming, two traits that helped him make friends everywhere he went. He had a lucky streak, and loved to use that luck playing bingo. In his later years he served as "resident president" at IvyBrook Assisted Living Facility where he quickly made friends and was a regular attendee of Sunday mass.
Bob was a great gift giver, a loving grandpa, and all-around fun time. He loved quoting Rolling Stones songs, watching Seinfeld, and decorating for the holidays.
He is survived by his five children: Dusty (Jared), Brandon (Nicole), Nikki (Chris), Mikee (Vito), and Malori (Mitch) and six grandchildren: Lexi and Jakson, Drea and Brooklyn, and Emma and Elias. He leaves behind countless extended family members, friends, and former baseball players. Bob will be greatly missed.
We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to his care team at Intermountain Medical Center's Neurocritical Care Unit for providing a compassionate space as he transitioned from this world into the next.
A celebration of life will be held for Bob this spring, details will be announced at a later date.
