Robert Flores, passed away November 24, 2024 at the age of 88.
Robert was born June 10, 1936. He was lifelong resident of Fillmore, California and a graduate of Fillmore High School. He was a proud veteran, joining the U.S. Army after graduation at the age of 18, and serving during the Korean War. After completing his service, Robert returned home and married the love of his life, Helen Olivas in 1959. He was her devoted and loving husband for 65 years. Helen and Robert were devout Catholics and life-long members of the St. Francis of Assisi Church. Helen and Robert bought a home in Fillmore where they raised their three children, Susan, Robert Jr. and Allen. Robert loved his family and with Helen instilled in them their faith, values, and love of the outdoors.
Robert was a skilled tradesman, working for 35 years at the Naval Construction Battalion Center at Port Hueneme as a Sheet Metal Mechanic. Robert enjoyed time with his family, working on his home, camping, and trips with Helen. They especially enjoyed trips to Yosemite and Laughlin. In their retirement years they enjoyed cruising adventures, relaxing and discovering new ports.
Robert was preceded in death by his father Jose Flores, mother Sabina Hernandez Romero, and brother David Flores. He is survived by his wife Helen, sister Leticia Armenia, brother Benjamin Romero (Lorraine), daughter Susan Salas, and by his sons Robert Flores Jr. and Allen (Valorie). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel Salas (Maria), Mark Flores (Mariana), Tim Flores, and great-grandchildren, Angel and Delsi. His grandchildren were his greatest joy in life.
