Quincy – Mr. Robert N. Francis, of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester and South Boston, died Monday, September 9, 2024 after an illness. He was 90 years old. 

Robert was born on April 11, 1934, in Boston, the son of the late Lawrence H. and Helen L. (Golesky) Francis. Raised and educated in South Boston, he served in the United States Army and National Guard. He married Patricia A. McInnis on May 12, 1956, in St. Augustine Church in South Boston.

Bob worked as a school bus driver for the City of Boston for over 20 years and drove bus for UMass Boston for several years. Before that, he was a sheet metal worker and hockey coach for the local Columbia Hockey Team.

Bob was known for his love of cooking and his famous cole slaw. 

In addition to his wife of 68 years, he leaves his children, Deborah A. Loeb (Jeffrey) of Ipswich, Lawrence R. Francis of Holbrook and Kimberly M. Francis of Weymouth and the late Patricia A. Glenn (James) of Brockton and Robert N. ‘Robbo’ Francis; also survived by 12 grandchildren; Rebecca Loeb Roth (Daniel) of South Burlington, Vermont, Jonathan Loeb of Dorchester, Allison Loeb Gaetano (Tyler) of Hoboken, New Jersey, Jason Francis of Dallas, South Carolina, James Glenn and Megan Glenn of Brockton, Andrew Glenn of Miami, Florida, Elizabeth Ralston, Alexis Ralston, Brit-Marie Ralston and Lucas Francis all of Weymouth and the late Mathew Francis. His sister, Helen (Bunny) Hellen of New Hampshire and the late Mary Martin and Margaret Celoria; also survived by many nieces & nephews. 

Family and friends will honor and remember Robert’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Wednesday, September 18th from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Columbia Road, Dorchester, on Thursday morning, September 19th at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
