Robert "Bob" Daniel Frederick, age 74, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family on March 7, 2024. He was born on November 19, 1949, in
Detroit, MI, to Daniel and Olga Frederick. He was a resident of Royal Oak, MI for 49 years. Bob grew up in
Lincoln Park, MI, with all of his cousins living in the same neighborhood. He spent his childhood days playing baseball, hockey and fishing with his friends. Bob attended Christ The Good Shepherd Elementary School for 1st through 8th grade, Huff Junior High School for 9th grade, and then graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1967. The great outdoors were calling for him so he moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and attended Northern Michigan University. This is where he met the love of his life, Debra Croschere. They were married on July 21, 1973 in Negaunee, MI. Last year they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Bob worked as an insurance investigator and a compliance officer for Equitable Life insurance for 43 years. He traveled all over the country for his job but often to
Buffalo, New York, where recently a fellow co-worker shared that they loved when Bob would come to the office to audit them. That just shows how loved he was because not many people would look forward to being audited.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He purchased property in the U.P. where he built a beautiful log cabin and could spend his days fishing and hunting. This was his happy place.
Bob always said he wasn't a people person but every person who met him instantly loved him. He had the ability to make everyone smile or laugh every time they were with him. Bob always joked that he had a genius IQ but we all think he really did. He was the guy that everyone called on for everything, whether it be trivia questions, help with cars, fixing something in the house, borrowing a tool or just needed someone to talk to. Bob would drop everything to help any of his family or friends. Bob's family meant the world to him, they were his pride and joy. He attended every sporting event, music concert, play and dance recital to show his support to his favorite people in the world- his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Debra Frederick, son Jason (Melissa Armon) Frederick, daughter Janis (David) King, his 6 grandchildren, Austin, Ashley (Nick), Alex, Sam, Willow, Madelynn, and his great-grandson Bodhi. His is also survived by his brother Mark (Mary) Frederick, sister-in-law Laurie (Ken) Parker, brother-in-laws Dennis (Barb) Croschere, Gerald Croschere, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Olga Frederick, parent-in-laws, Donald and Ruth Croschere, and brother-in-law Daniel Croschere. Bob will be greatly missed but never forgetten, for he is our shining star.
