Robert Froehlich Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home on Dec. 17, 2025.
Robert Paul Froehlich, loving husband to Carol A. (Midyette) Froehlich passed away peacefully on Saturday December 13, 2025. He was 78 years old.
Bob was born in Manchester, CT on March 22, 1947, son of the late Carl O. Froehlich and Faith (Ridgeway) Froehlich of Manchester, CT & Venice, FL.
Bob served in the Army Reserves for 6 years and was honorably discharged in 1972. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at Central Connecticut State University in 1970. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney for 40 years as an analyst. In 1970 he became a member of the Manchester Fire Department, 8th Utilities District and served for 25 years.
Bob and Carol were married for 34 years. During this time, they rescued and adopted their pet children. It was a full-time job. They enjoyed Bob's retirement, traveling to Maine and coastal towns of New England. Bob especially enjoyed his weekly visits with his good friend Joe, talking about daily events.
His friendships spanned years at Pratt & Whitney and his friendships with the "golfing crew," Jim, Wayne, and Charlie and all the guys created so many memorable moments. He was president of the Pratt & Whitney golf league. Bob was known by his co-workers as "FRO."
Bob enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He was an avid UConn men's & women's basketball fan. He also enjoyed the Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox.
Bob is survived by his brother Carl Richard Froehlich (Madeleine), two nephews, C. Bruce Froehlich (Kelly) who provided consistent, kind, and caring help over the last few months, and Bryan Froehlich (Elisabetta) who is serving our country over seas with the U.S. Army. Bob was very proud of both of his nephews. Bob is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Barbara Hillman (Andrew), Pamela Coste (Stephen), and Elaine O'Brien (William), who provided assistance, and many nieces and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Bob's life in the spring of 2026. Date, time, and place to be announced.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Bob's memory may be made to any of the following, CT Foodshare, Connecticut Fireman's Historical Society, VFW, American Diabetes Association.
