Robert C. "Bob" Galvan – passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, Wednesday March 5th. Age 77.
Robert was a U.S. Army Veteran and spoke with great pride of his time in Korea. He was a machinist and also worked for the Secretary of State DMV. He was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Robert is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sandra A. Galvan (nee Soto), sons Christopher (Samantha) Galvan, Robert D. Galvan, Anthony Wampole, his daughters Amanda (Ricardo) Luna, Laura (Ricardo) Saldana and Jennifer Galvan. His brother Richard Galvan sisters Dolores Galvan, Irene Statham, Melody (Ray) Ruarke and Gloria Ramirez. His grandchildren Anthony, Michael, Priscilla, Marissa, Isabella, Gabriela, Devin, Riley, Emma, Christopher Jr,. Giovanni, Ricky, Rudy and one great-grandchild on the way.
Preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Juanita Galvan and one sister Rebecca Portillo.
Robert loved being charitable, especially with the American GI Forum and volunteering at Daybreak. He enjoyed watching wrestling and was a Chicago Bears and White Sox fan. Family was very important to him and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Funeral service will be held at Carlson Holmquist Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory 2320 Black Road, Joliet Wednesday March 12th at 9:15 AM to Holy Family Catholic Church 600 Brook Forest Ave. Shorewood, IL at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be Tuesday March 11th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. For information visit chsfuneral.com or call 815-744-0022.
