Robert Gamble Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCausland Garrity Marchesani Funeral Home & Crematory on Oct. 14, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Robert ("Bob") J. Gamble III, age 74, of Boothwyn, Pa., formerly of Wilmington, Del. and Sharon Hill, Pa., passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2025.
Born in Darby, Bob was raised in Sharon Hill, where he was a longtime resident. He graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School and then joined the Marine Reserves. He worked for Westinghouse in his early years, followed by a long career with SEKO Air Freight, retiring in 2018.
An avid golfer, Bob's happy place was on the course. There, he made lifelong friends among his golf groups, including U-ALL, OCMD, and the Bogey Bums, who were like family to him. The Bogey Bums and Bob made dozens of trips to Myrtle Beach, the "golfer's paradise", over multiple decades – every time bringing Bob immense joy. Whether on the course, on the town, or at home, Bob was impeccably put together; he always dressed and behaved like a true gentleman – and was the picture of class cruising in his dream car, which he proudly and deservedly acquired in retirement.
He enjoyed watching movies, especially Westerns, as well as Philly sports, golf (of course), and BritBox on TV. He also loved reading mysteries and thrillers on his Nook.
But the thing he enjoyed most was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bob was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 42 years, Dolores Gamble; a loving father to Deborah (Kevin) Westerling and Ryan (Marie) Gamble; adored "GG" (Grandpop Gamble) to Lily and Amber Westerling and Emma and Brooks Gamble; and dear sibling to Barbara Lee (Frank) McKone, Bruce Gamble, Brian Gamble, Barry Gamble, and Brent (Terri) Gamble. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and good friends. He was predeceased by his cherished parents, Robert Jr. and Doris Gamble.
Bob was a gracious, charitable, and accepting soul, always showing up for others and fiercely loyal to the end. He was also very fun – happy to share a laugh, a dance (nickname: "Twinkletoes"), or a good game of cards.
Bob's journey on earth has ended, but his story will continue in all who were blessed to know him. Forever loved, forever remembered.
Memorial Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at St. Pius X Church, 220 S. Lawrence Road, Broomall, Pa. 19008.
Visitation: 9-10:30 a.m. at the church
Burial: SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery
