Robert Ramiro Garcia, 80, passed away at his home in Kalamazoo, Michigan on November 30, 2025.
Robert was born in Laredo, Texas, and made his way to Michigan in 1966 after marrying the love of his life, Irma. The two recently celebrated 59 years of marriage—a milestone marked with the same laughter, loyalty, and gentle stubbornness that shaped their life together.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Merced and Alicia Garcia, and his siblings Arturo, Mike, Olga, Gracieala, Lydia, Tony, and Janie.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Irma, and their children Rick, Raul (Maggie), and Julie and his brother Roy. He was the proud grandfather of Alex (Alexia), Molly, Aliza, Sabrina, Mason, Lucas, and Oliver, and great-grandfather to sweet Erehsih.
Robert lived a life filled with simple joys: golfing whenever he could, playing cards with anyone brave enough to challenge him, sneaking sweets even when he insisted he didn’t need any, and hollering at the TV during football games as if the players could hear him. After retiring from a lifelong career at GM in 2000, he enjoyed frequent road trips to Texas to visit family.
He will be remembered for his humor, his heart, and the way he lit up whenever surrounded by family. His stories, his teasing, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes and Cremation Society, located at 5975 Lovers Lane, Portage, MI. 269 344-5600. A private burial will follow.
While visiting Robert's webpage at www.amsfuneralhomes.com please sign the guestbook and/or share a memory with the family.
