Robert Gassaway Obituary
He was born on December 18, 1932, in Sykesville, Maryland, one of eleven, born to the late Robert Edward Gassaway, Sr. and Rosalie (Rheubottom) Gassaway. He was the devoted husband of the late Linda Lee Gassaway who passed in 2025.
Sonny was raised in Sykesville. He retired from Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville after many years of service. He was a long time member of White Rock Independent Methodist Church, Sykesville.
He is survived by son James Gassaway of Sykesville, brothers Josh Gassaway and Roscoe Gassaway, step-daughter Deborah Miller and grandson Travis Grimes. He was predeceased by several siblings.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at White Rock Independent Methodist Church, 6300 White Rock Road, Sykesville with his pastor, Rev. Ernest Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
