Robert Gendron Obituary

Robert (Bob) Gendron passed away January 6, 2025 after battling cancer for almost 4 years.

Born in Pelham, NH, Bob spent the majority of his life in New England. It was there he met his wife Ginger and there, where he brought his kids on many weekend adventures. Life in New Hampshire fostered a love of many recreational activities for Bob. He enjoyed skiing, ice hockey, bicycling, canoeing, swimming, pool, table tennis, and camping just to name a few. More importantly, he loved doing all these things with his kids, passing on hobbies that would last a lifetime. However, his favorite activity was out on the water. Bob was an avid fisherman. He fished day or night, spring, summer, winter and fall. When he and his wife moved to Tennessee just 3 years ago, he installed a dock and overcame the 56 steps down to the water (and then back up) as often as he could for a chance to fish even while in poor health.

Bob loved music. He never went on a trip without his guitar and harmonica and would thoughtfully write songs each year for all 7 of his grandchildren’s birthdays - a different song each year and individual to each of them. His grandchildren love their BG, and he absolutely adored them and loved being their grandfather.

A brilliant manufacturing engineer, Bob retired from Hypertherm in Etna, New Hampshire in 2020 after 30 years of service. He truly believed there was always a solution for everything and always seemed to figure it out. Always working on his homes, he also enjoyed designing and making things, including his patented invention, The Driveway GroomerTM, that is still being sold today. He had great woodworking skills, and his results were beautiful as evidenced by a number of projects but especially his handmade kitchen cabinets, spiral staircase, and more, in both his primary residence and his camp on Lake Memphremagog. A family motto that he repeated often, was “I promise to try as hard as I can at everything I do.” And in everything he did, professionally and personally, he lived this out to the fullest.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ginger; four children, Brian (Alayna), Jess (Nick), Nick (Emma), and Chris (Cassie); seven grandchildren, Nolan, Blake, Thomas, Chiara, Joseph, Mason, Chloe; three brothers; two sisters; and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will be greatly missed.
