Robert Albert “Bob” Gendron, age 65, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Andrée D. (St. Hilaire) Gendron, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.
Bob, born in Lowell on June 27, 1960 was the son of the late Jeanne Marie (Joyal) and Leo R. Gendron. He worked as a paperboy to earn money for a guitar and lessons. He got good enough to play in a local coffee shop with friends. Upon graduating from Lowell Vocational Technical High School, Bob proudly went to serve in the United States Navy aboard the USS Kidd (DDG 993.) He was employed by Mitre Corporation for many years prior to his cancer diagnosis.
Bob once served as an alter boy at Notre Dame D’Lourdes. Later in life he was an alter server at St. Casimir’s Polish National Church and eventually became a Sub-Deacon of St. George Antiochian Church.
He was an avid guitarist with an eclectic taste in music from all decades. His love of bluegrass prompted him to learn the mandolin to join jam sessions at festivals. His other hobbies included building models and HO model railroads, hiking, camping and repairing antique and ham radio.
In addition to his wife, Andrée, Bob is survived and will be deeply missed by his three children, Nichole Collins and her husband, Dana of Dracut, Jessica Goguen and her husband, Michael of Milford, NH and Joshua Gendron and his wife, Elizabeth of Nashua, NH; his six grandchildren, Haley, Leo, Elizabeth, Daisy-Jeanne, Emma and Rebecca; his great-grandson, Connor; his sister, Donna Hoard and niece, Emilyann Hoard of Lowell; along with many other family members and friends.
He is predeceased by his brother-in-law, William “Bill” Hoard.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bob’s Life Celebration on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:45 AM in St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel, Chelmsford.
