Robert Gentry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel on Dec. 16, 2025.
Robert (Bob) Gordon Gentry was born in Glendale California on December 1,1940, and
passed away, all too soon, on December 7, 2025, in Prunedale California at the age of
85.
Bob was a California Boy through and through. Starting his life in the south, spending
most of his childhood in the north, before settling as an adult on the Central Coast.
Bob loved life and never knew a stranger; they were just friends he hadn't met yet. He
always had a smile on his face, a handshake in his hand or a hug in case you needed it.
Bob said he never went to work because work was his playground.
Bob served Four Years in the Air Force where he got to "play" on B52 engines.
Upon leaving the Air Force, he went to work for IBM. There he got to "play" with
computers. Everything from large Mainframes to small cash registers and everything in
between. After 20 or so years he decided to take a bridge to retirement from IBM and
went to work for the Naval Post Graduate School as the Data Center Manager. He
spent the rest of his career still "playing" on the machines he loved. Bob finally retired
for good on December 31, 2017.
Bob really enjoyed his retirement as he loved to travel, in addition to seeing much of the
United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, he managed to see Australia, New
Zealand, Ireland, Scottland, Spain, Portugal cruised through the Panama Canal, to the
Bahamas and Mexico, his last great adventure was his trip to Africa.
Bob was raised into the Masonic Lodge in June of 1996 and initiated into The Order of
the Eastern Star in August of that same year. He served as Master of his Lodge from
2010 through 2012 and was Worthy Patron of Eastern Star four times.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Betty, his brother Bill, his in-laws
Abe and Sandy and nephew Adam.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Terry, his sister Anita, Son Vince and daughter-in-
law Stacy, their children Katie and husband Jesse, Kelsey, Kassie and Cody; Son
Victor; Son Mike and daughter-in-law Stacia their sons Zach and Gabe his wife Nadeen
and daughter Zoe; his step sons Dagen and Chris his wife Jessica and their children
Aurora and Ryukai. Two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law and a hoard of nieces
and nephews and many sorrowing friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life on January 10, 2026, at 1pm at the Salinas Lodge, 48
E. San Joaquin St.
