Robert J. Giebler

Robert "Bob" J. Giebler, 95, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. He was born in 1929 in Menasha, Wisconsin, to Theodore and Elizabeth (Karlin) Giebler. Bob graduated from Fort Hays University and served in the United States Army during the post-WWII occupation in Germany.
Bob and Viola (Malsam) Giebler were married in August 1956. While living in Topeka, they adopted Susan and then Mark. Upon moving to Wichita, Bob worked for Wesley Medical Center until retirement.
Bob was a passionate fan and supporter of the Kansas State Wildcats. He attended or watched his beloved cats any chance he had. Bob volunteered for many organizations, including restoring the B29 bomber "Doc," and spent many days at The Lord's Diner. He often could be found in his parish choir loft and spent many Sundays praising God in the respective choirs of St. Jude’s and St. Patrick's. However, the absolute joy in his life was spending time and sharing his faith with his family and grandchildren.
The rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 28, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. The internment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Elizabeth (Karlin) Giebler; wife, Viola Marie (Malsam) Giebler; brother, Francis Giebler; and sisters, Charlotte Giebler and Betty Wood.
He is survived by his son, Mark (Polly) Giebler of Wichita; daughter, Susan Peavler of Kansas City; grandchildren, Annie (Jeffrey) Cummings, Elizabeth Giebler, and Robert Giebler II; and one great-grandchild, Christopher James.
