Robert, "Bob," Milton Giebner, age 76, went peacefully home to the Lord on June 30, 2024 at his house in Tavares, Florida with his wife by his side. Bob was born on September 30, 1947 in Greenville, South Carolina to Hamel and Harriett Giebner. After a few years attending Clemson University, he joined the United States Army, serving twice in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, and remaining in service for 25 years before retiring as a chief warrant officer. Once retired from military service, Bob attended college at Southwest Minnesota State University, earning a degree in computer science. He worked as an electrical engineer in Tracy, Minnesota, where he met his wife, Kathy Pugh. He then rejoined the United States Army, serving as a pilot in both Iraq and Afghanistan, for another 7 years. After his second retirement from military service, he worked for a civilian contractor alongside military personnel.
The youngest of two children, Bob was a good and loving son, an enamored 'little' brother, and a good shot. He had fond memories of his childhood and his time in the military, and he enjoyed playing bluegrass music as well as working on motorcycles and computers. He was a man who took care of his family, took pride in his children, loved his wife, and held firmly to his faith. He will be remembered by those who knew him as "a fun guy who helped people" and who lived to learn.
Our hearts are filled with grief but also gratitude as we remember a supportive and devoted father and husband. Dad led by example, demonstrating the importance of integrity, patience, and faith. His impact on this earth will endure and though we grieve his absence, we also honor his memory by finding peace and comfort in his journey's end. He is cherished in our hearts, and we wish him eternal serenity.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and John; his daughter, Hilary; his son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Rachel; his son, Josh; his brother, Green; his stepsons, David and Greg; and his grandchildren: Emma, Mason, Madilynn, Braden, Adyson, Jayvis and Makya, with an additional grandchild on the way.
A memorial service will be held at Tracy United Methodist Church on July 15, 2024, at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the USO (United Service Organizations).
