Robert “Bob” Giesen, 89, of Lancaster, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2026.
Bob was born on December 10, 1936, on the family farm in Cassville, Wisconsin. He was the
youngest of seven children born to Philip and Sarah (Rogers) Giesen. He grew up on the family
farm, attended Muddy Hollow School, and graduated from Cassville High School in 1955. While
in high school, he proudly played basketball for the Comets and always valued his contributions
to the team.
After graduation, Bob worked alongside his father and brothers on their farms until he was
drafted into the United States Army in 1960. He completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood
before being stationed in Germany, where he served the remainder of his military duty. He was
honorably discharged in 1962.
Following his return home, Bob met the love of his life, Gloria (Simpson) Giesen. They were
united in marriage on October 24, 1964, and shared 61 wonderful years together.
In August 1965, Bob began working at John Deere Dubuque Works in the foundry. Through
dedication and hard work, he advanced to the position of inspector. He retired in September 1994
after 30 years of service. In retirement, Bob enjoyed shooting pool, golfing, trap shooting, deer
hunting, and traveling with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; his daughter, Dawn (Dion) Bevan of Middleton; his
son, Rob (Cari) of North Carolina; sisters-in-law Rose Bryhan and Marita Simpson; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father- and mother-in-law, Sidney and Beulah
Simpson; his brothers, Tom (Grace), Billy, Art (Dora), and Don (Darlene); his sisters, Eunice
(Bill) Hauk and Laura (Carson) Rauch; and his great-nieces, Stephanie Giesen and Sarah Bryhan, and great-nephew,
James Giesen.
Bob was an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and rarely missed a chance to watch a game. He
also enjoyed watching Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball on television. Having spent his
career working at John Deere, Bob naturally had a special appreciation for John Deere tractors.
In honor of Bob’s passions, visitors are invited to wear Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers,
or John Deere apparel to his memorial service, if they wish. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Lancaster EMS
or the Lancaster Fire Department.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Kramer-Grau Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Nate LaMore officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
