Robert E. Gilkey

Robert E. Gilkey, age 69 of Stamps, AR, passed through death into eternal life on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Christus Saint Michael Hospital in Texarkana TX, after an extended illness, Robert was born February 18, 1956 in Conroe, Texas, son of the late George Gilkey Sr. and Annie Mae Laudermill.

Robert grew up in Stamps AR, where he graduated from Stamps High School in 1974. He relocated to Erie, PA in 1981 until the time of his retirement. Robert previously worked for Erie Malleable Iron and retired from the Erie School District after over 20 years of service as a custodian. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, listening to old school music and spending time with family and friends. Robert will be remembered for his generous spirit, with a toolbox in his hand and a kind heart and he never said no to a request for help.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, William, Charles, Curtis, Burnis, Dennis, Terry and George Jr.; two sisters, Ruth Williams and Dorothy Gilkey. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gail of Erie, PA; two brothers, Raymond of Stamps, AR and Otis (Denise) of Vallejo, CA; two sisters, Linda Gilkey of Paramount, CA and Cynthia Gilkey of Stamps, AR; and his cherished three daughters, Brittney, Krystle, and Samantha Shields all of Erie, PA. Robert will also be lovingly remembered by a special nephew, Marco Gilkey, Texarkana, AR; and a special cousin, James Earl Sewell of Lincoln Park, MI.

A special thank you to Robert's brother, Raymond Gilkey, sister, Cynthia Gilkey and niece, Pavia Gilkey for enabling Robert to remain at home with dignity and comfort during his time of illness.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday, February 20th, from 11 am until the time of the Funeral Service there at 1 pm conducted by Pastor Curtis Jones, Jr. Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
