Robert “Mikey” Gilman, 38 of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025 in his residence. He was born in Terre Haute on December 10, 1986.
As a coach and mentor, he gave back selflessly, shaping the next generation of fighters. Countless athletes in this region carry his lessons, his toughness, and his wisdom with them every time they train and compete. His influence extended far beyond MMA-as a coach in youth football and wrestling, Mikey poured into young athletes, teaching them discipline, respect, and resilience both on the mat and on the field.
As a person, Mikey was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was the kind of man who gave his time freely, to anyone who needed it. A warrior in life and a soldier in God’s army, his presence was felt everywhere he went.
When he wasn’t coaching or training Mikey enjoyed being outdoors in nature or on the couch taking a nap. He was a member of Westside Christian Church in West Terre Haute and Valley Church in Terre Haute.
Mikey is survived by his mother and step-father Donna Davis and Tom Davis, his wife Sarah Travioli, and three children; Gabriella Gilman, Lylee Kraemer, and Lien Kraemer. He is also survived by grandparents Tom and Reva Davis, and Linda Kincaid, his sister, Chelsea Wittenmyer, his aunt Heather Howard Webb, little brother Gage Swaim, and his three dogs Arya, Genna, and Daisy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Laura and Don Webb, and his uncle, John Webb.
Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, IN on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Westside Christian Church, in his memory.
