Robert Ira Goldsmith

Robert Ira Goldsmith, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 29, 2026.

Born in Vienna, Georgia, Ira was the son of the late Laurie H. Goldsmith and Thelma Brown Goldsmith. Ira was raised in Warner Robins, Georgia, where he resided for over 50 years. He graduated from Georgia Southern University with a master's in business administration. He later settled in Greenville, South Carolina, which he called home for the last 28 years.

He was a proud United States Army Veteran. He served a tour in Vietnam, where his dedication to duty earned him The Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a computer analyst, lending his expertise to various financial institutions and manufacturers until his retirement.

A man of deep faith and a devoted Christian, he was a long-time, faithful member of Resurrection Church of Greer, South Carolina.

He was a devoted family man who will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Robbie Duckworth Goldsmith. He is also survived by his son, Rob Goldsmith, and his wife, Laurie; and his two daughters, Amber Walker and her husband Brian, and Jessica Szymanski and her husband Bill.

He was the beloved "Papa" to seven adoring grandchildren: Hayley Lederer (Noah), Jordan Goldsmith (Amelia), Will Walker, Addison Szymanski, Claire Walker, Makenzie Szymanski, and Haven Szymanski.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Al Goldsmith and James "Jimmy" Goldsmith.

A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Resurrection Church, Greer, South Carolina.
