Lucky graduated from Harrison Central High School in 1971, where he excelled in football and baseball. He began his career in the construction industry as a carpenter. He later traveled throughout the country working shutdowns at numerous manufacturing and power plants as a boiler maker and millwright. During his rare free time, while working out of town, he enjoyed exploring the local areas.
Lucky was an avid freshwater fisherman, often winning numerous trophies and prizes. He enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden, which he freely shared with neighbors, friends and family. He was an enthusiastic pool player and was a member of the Good Times pool league. He loved frequenting yard sales, exploring and collecting items discarded by others.
