Robert L. Grimes, 87, formerly of West Lawn, passed away November 17, 2024 in the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown Healthcare Center.
Born in Sinking Spring, Berks County, he was a son of the late Irwin K. and Emma G. (Gerhart) Grimes. He was the husband of the late Despina M. (Paras) Grimes who passed away August 29, 2018. They celebrated 28 years of marriage prior to her passing.
Bob worked in quality assurance at the former Western Electric, later AT&T for 35 years, retiring in 1994. He was an U.S. Army veteran and a 1955 graduate of Wilson High School. He was a member of Telephone Pioneer of America, Chandler Lodge No. 227 F&AM, Reading Consistory, Rajah Shrine, Rajah, Lebanon, Lancaster and York Shrine Clubs. Bob was a life member of both Sinking Spring and Berkshire Heights Fire Companies and enjoyed hunting, fishing, landscaping, antique auctions and collecting coins.
He is survived by his son – Ted W. Grimes, Charlestown, MD, his daughter – Debbie wife of Robert Hershey, Manheim, his grandchildren – Zach husband of Laura Hershey, Jen wife of Keith Fox, his great grandchildren – Sierra & Nora Hershey and Brayden, Katrelle & Lyssa Fox. He is also survived by his stepson – Danny E. Lewalski.
Masonic services by Chandler Lodge No. 227 F&AM on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM followed by his funeral service at Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington. Visitation on Sunday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment in Sinking Spring Cemetery will take place on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
