Robert Clinton Gum, a beacon of unwavering dedication and kindness, has left a legacy of love and service that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on November 23, 1954, in Cushing, Oklahoma, Robert's journey through life has been a testament to the power of positivity and the strength of family bonds. He passed away on November 12, 2025, in Edmond, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love that he so generously gave throughout his life.
Robert was a man who built his life on the foundation of his Christian faith and the love of his cherished family. His beloved wife, Linda Gum, stood by his side as a partner in all of life's adventures. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Lindsay and Cassidy, who brought joy and pride to Robert's life. His role as a grandfather to Donovan and Wesley was one he cherished deeply, encouraging their love of sports and attending all sporting events he could. Robert's mother, Irene, and his brother, Darrell, were integral parts of his life, providing love, support, and cherished memories.
Robert's academic achievements were marked by his earning a Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma State University, which paved the way for a remarkable 42-year career as a Mechanical Engineer with Halliburton. His commitment to his profession was matched by his dedication to his community, serving as a Deacon at Waterloo Baptist Church and as a teacher to many, sharing his wisdom and faith with grace and humility.
His interests were a reflection of his vibrant spirit; an avid watcher of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Oklahoma State Football, Robert found joy in the thrill of the game. He was a 1973 state champion in football for Hale Highschool. He also played college baseball. Above all, Robert's service to others was the cornerstone of his existence. He believed in the power of helping those in need, and his life was a living example of this belief.
Robert was the epitome of faith, adventure, and generosity. His ability to support anyone in need, and embark on new experiences with a smile was inspirational. His faith in God led every part of his life and was a true inspiration to many. Robert visited 27 countries during the course of his life and loved to tell stories of his adventures. He "attempted" to fix anything, usually with some duct tape, and always played off any random repair issues with an "I meant for it to do that.
Today, we celebrate a life that was lived with purpose, passion, and a profound sense of service and faith. Robert Clinton Gum's story does not end here; it continues in the lives of those he touched, the community he helped build, and the family he loved so dearly. Let us honor his memory by living our lives with the same steadfast faith, adventurous spirit, generous heart, and "handy" skills that he demonstrated every day. Robert's journey on this earth has concluded, but his spirit soars on, guiding us with the legacy he leaves behind.

Robert was the great designer and engineer behind the "Living Christmas Tree" at Mayfield Road Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. Our Choir enjoyed this for many years before passing it on to another Baptist Church in Fort Worth. I have many fond memories of being in the "tree" as we proclaimed Christ's birth to the community. Loved the many times we were together at Mayfield Rd. and will miss his sweet generous personality.

Though I only had the privilege of working with Robert for a short time, his kindness and thoughtful spirit stayed with me. He never missed a chance to stop by and say hello when he was in the Conroe office, and I always enjoyed our conversations about life, family, and work. My deepest sympathies go out to his family. May you find comfort in knowing how many people Robert touched with his warmth and how fondly he will be remembered.

Robert was a beloved friend that helped us out in our time of need. He was always willing to give Steve a ride to appointments, help with our pump house, and give us a smile at church. Steve looked forward to seeing Robert at Men's breakfast every Wednesday. He was kind, generous, and would always give what he had to others. He will be truly missed .
