Robert Haessner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory - Kempsville Chapel on Dec. 11, 2025.
Robert (Bob) Conrad Haessner, age 73, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away peacefully in his home, on November 15, 2025. He was born on February 8, 1952, to Rudolph (Rudy) Walter Haessner and Patricia June (McGowan) Haessner in Passaic, New Jersey.
Prior to settling and calling Virginia home, he served in the armed forces and travelled cross country, a time or two.
Once rooted in Virginia, he completed a three-year apprenticeship graduating in 1979 as a shipfitter for Norship Co, currently known as BAE Systems. He retired in 2014, where he implemented his skills as an accomplished welder and fabricator.
Bob had a great appreciation for the outdoors whether it was fishing or bird hunting. He had a love for all things related to the Wild West even as a young child which in turn sparked his enthusiasm as an avid shooter and marksman. Since his retirement, he spent quite a bit of time at the range with fellow enthusiasts, something he truly loved to do. Bob was a bit of a motorhead, he loved muscle cars but preferred the two wheeled type; motorcycles, rock & roll and the open road was his happy place.
He will be greatly missed and remembered as devoted father to his one and only daughter Kristin who called him Dad; as a fun, troublemaker grandfather by his two granddaughters who called him Opa; as a one of a kind brother to his sisters who called him Bobby; and a tough but fair hardworking friend that knew him simply as Bob.
He is survived by his daughter Kristin McNair (Kittrell) and two granddaughters, Kendall and Karly. Three sisters, Margery Agrafiotis (Angelo, Ian and Alexis), Elizabeth A. Haessner (Christina) and Annette K. Bolton.
He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas E. Haessner and his parents Rudy and Pat Haessner.
A memorial service will be held on 12/19 at 3pm, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Kempsville location, 1485 Kempsville Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
As many of you know, my dad was a colon cancer survivor, he was an ultimate fighter in my mind. He fought cancer not only for himself but did so in order for him to be able to raise me; I will always be grateful for the additional 36 years he was given after being told he had only 6 months to live! 36 years, how unbelievably amazing!
With that being said, in lieu of flowers please donate to a colon cancer research organization of your choice in memory of an ultimate fighter, my father Robert Conrad Haessner.
