Robert "Bob" Lee Hamilton

Bob passed away to eternal life on December 28th, 2025 in his loving home. Bob was born in 1945 on June 19th in Mobile, AL. He attended grade school at Russell Elementary School, then Barton Academy Jr. High, and finally Murphy High school. Upon graduating in 1965, he enlisted into the Marine Corps and served four years, including one year in Vietnam.

During his time in the Marine Corps, he was a crew chief of a helicopter group called "The Purple Foxes." His helicopter would go on MedVac and transportation missions. In one mission, which was his favorite, they were taking Ann-Margret and The Golddiggers to the USO show with Bob Hope. On this trip, he was kissed by Ann-Margret and got to sit on the front row of the show.

After the Marine Corps, he worked various jobs at the Mobile ship yard and Scott Paper Company. He then got into the apprenticeship program with IBEW, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. During this journey, he worked various jobs around the US, including installing the lights of the Wallace tunnel and completing the Federal Building in Mobile, AL. Finally, he was able to work in the Federal building under GSA, General Service Administration. He later retired from GSA and worked at Herndon Oil and then Gordon Oaks before retiring.

Bob is preceded in death by his father, Charles Lawrence Hamilton, Sr.; his mother Emma Lucille Hamilton; and siblings, Charles L. Hamilton Jr., Joseph P. Hamilton, and Richard "Butch" Hamilton. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sara Pistole Hamilton; sons, Lawrence "Larry" Hamilton and Robert "Robin" Rehm-Hamilton; daughters-in-law, Mary Hamilton and Theresa Rehm-Hamilton; grandchildren, Marcus Swafford, Jr., Savannah Swafford, Joseph Rehm-Hamilton, and Cordelia Johnson; his brother, Clyde Hamilton; and his sisters, Mary Blevins and Marilyn Smalley.
