Robert "Bobby" Hanks, born on the 18th of July, 1957, in Jennings, Louisiana, departed from this earth on the 28th of February, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. In his extraordinary life, Bobby found purpose and fulfillment in both his professional endeavors and his personal passions.
For 30 years, Bobby dedicated himself to the role of Boiler Room Operator with Texaco/Motiva, earning respect and admiration from his colleagues through his hard work and commitment. Beyond his career, he passionately volunteered at the Public Library in Groves, sharing his love for learning and community service.
Bobby was a multifaceted individual whose spirit shone brightly in all areas of his life. He enjoyed clogging for 15 years, a delightful expression of joy and energy through dance. A man of many talents, he also took pleasure in home improvements, always striving to create a welcoming space for his loved ones. Additionally, he cherished the time spent playing guitar, a testament to his love for music.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Hanks, with whom he shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. Bobby was also a devoted father to his sons, Brian Hanks of Groves, Texas, and Gary Hanks, who is partnered with Christopher Long of Lumberton, Texas. His legacy will continue through his grandchild, Austin Ray Hanks, who brought him immense happiness.
Bobby's family ties extended beyond his immediate household. He is survived by his brother, Charles Joseph Hanks, married to Deniese, and his sisters, Rita Ann Presley married to Gary of DeRidder, Louisiana, Mary Lois Hanks of Port Arthur, Texas, and Nancy Catherine Bernard of Nederland, Texas. He also leaves behind his cherished fur babies, Lacey and Yoda, who brought him companionship and joy.
Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Gabriel Raphael Hanks and Elizabeth Sonnier Hanks, as well as his brother, Gerald Hanks, who have welcomed him with open arms.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on the 5th of March, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. A funeral service will be held on the following day, the 6th of March, at 11:00 AM, also at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas, at 12:00 PM.
Robert "Bobby" Hanks leaves behind a legacy rich in love, laughter, and cherished memories. His gentle spirit and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
