Robert Harris

Robert Bliss Walker Harris, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born October 17, 1937, in Finger, TN, the son of the late Robert Bliss and Mary Opal Walker Harris. He graduated from Bethel Springs High School in 1957. Robert and his beloved wife Betty were grade school sweethearts. They married in April of 1956, and made their home in Selmer, TN, later moving their family to Henderson in 1976.

Robert studied Criminal Justice at UT Martin and was a career Tennessee Highway Patrolman for over thirty years in West, TN. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening, golfing, fishing and hunting and loved his home on the Tennessee river.

Mr. Harris is survived by three sons, Phillip Harris (Pamela) of Summerville, South Carolina, John Harris (Melinda) of Jackson, Tennessee, and Jason Harris (Jenny) of Colleyville, Texas. He is also survived by his younger brother, Billy Frank Harris (Shirley) of Selmer, eight grandchildren, Holly Holladay (Nathan), Alyssa Toroni (Steven), Joshua Harris (Emily), Will Harris, Rachel Harris, Hardin Harris, Powers Harris, and Neyland Harris; nine great grandchildren, Beckham Toroni, Emerson Holladay, Grayson Holladay, Maximus Toroni, Savannah Toroni, Andrew Toroni, Millie Holladay, Penelope Harris and Daphne Harris.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Glenn Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Hill Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the 2:00 service.
