Robert Wayne Haun

Funeral Services for Bob Haun, age 80, of Spencer will be at 10:30 am on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the Spencer Wesleyan Church with Pastor Grant Graff officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, north of Lynch. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer with a 7 pm Prayer Service. Bob passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 with his family by his side at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill. Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer.
Robert Wayne Haun was born on July 12, 1944 to Floyd and Florence (Heiser) Haun in Lynch, Nebraska. Bob lived in Lynch until the age of two when his family moved to Spencer. He attended Spencer High School where he enjoyed playing football and basketball and was a part of the 1962 Class C State Basketball Championship Team. Bob graduated with the class of 1962. He attended UNL for a short time and then followed his high school sweetheart, Judy Hammon, to Chadron State College. The couple married on June 19, 1965 at the Spencer Methodist Church. To this union was born one daughter and two sons.
Bob returned to the family business in 1966, working with his dad and brother mainly as a livestock order buyer and dispatching trucks for Spencer Livestock. As the years went by, he was proud to help the company grow to include one son, a grandson, three nephews and several of the nephews' children. Bob retired in 2020.
Bob was very active in the community, sitting on the town board as the mayor, on the school board serving time as the President, and serving over 40 years on the Wesleyan Church Board as the Treasurer. Bob was very proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was an avid Boyd County sports fan, and he attended many games. Bob was a Husker fan and also enjoyed listening to the Minnesota Twins.
Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy, of Spencer; his two sons, Brad (Jolene) Haun of Miller, SD, Jeff (Tricia) Haun of Louisville, NE; five grandchildren, Tyler (Jaclyn) Haun, Lauren (Will) Kelly, Abby Haun, Carly Haun, Trevor Haun; two great grandchildren, twins John Robert and Caroline Louise Haun; sisters, Dorothy Miller of Dallas, TX, Betty Oatman of South Sioux City, NE; brothers-in-law, Chester Gene (Cherry) Hammon of Spencer, Casey (Vickie) Hammon of Spencer; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; baby daughter in 1967; brother, Harold (Helen) Haun; brothers-in-law, Keith Oatman and Robert Hammon.
