Lincoln - Robert J. Hayes, 83, of Great Road, died Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy (Kyle) Hayes, to whom he had been married for fifty-three years before her passing in 2019.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Robert E. and Ethel (Hallworth) Hayes, he had resided in Lincoln for the past fifty-six years.

Mr. Hayes worked as a scrap iron worker for Metals Processing and Metals Recycling, retiring in 2007.

Bob had a deep affection for animals and spent many years caring for a variety of dogs, cats, horses, and more. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, in particular Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. A parishioner of Lime Rock Baptist Church, he had served as a deacon. Bob served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his son-in-law, Peter Tarmey of Lincoln; and his grandchild, Maggie Tarmey of Lincoln. He was the father of the late Sarah B. Hayes; and the brother of the late Shirley Wyllie and Barbara Archambault.

His funeral and burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Hotel for Homeless Dogs, 44 Martin Street, Cumberland, R.I. 02864 would be appreciated.
