Robert R. Hefti, born on November 30, 1948, in Marshall, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at his home. He was the son of Roy and Leona (Gutterman) Hefti and grew up in Marshall, where he completed his education at Marshall High School in 1966 before graduating from Augustana College in 1970.
After college, Bob proudly served as an officer in the United States Air Force, where he was a pilot from 1970 to 1976. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career with Schwan’s as a computer programmer and IS manager, showcasing his dedication and expertise in technology.
In 1971, Bob found the love of his life when he married his college sweetheart, Mary Aderhold, in Castlewood, South Dakota. Together, they shared a fulfilling life, which included purchasing a lake home on Big Chippewa Lake near Brandon, Minnesota. There, they cherished moments spent with family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Bob was known for his competitive spirit, enjoying activities like competitive bass fishing and biking, which brought him joy and connection with nature. In the winter months, he further engaged with the community by serving as a ski patrol at Andes Tower Hills.
Bob was a dedicated family man who took immense pride in supporting the sporting activities of his grandchildren. He is survived by his three children: Brian (Kelly) of Sioux Falls, SD; Amy of Alexandria, MN; and Michael (Jody) of Evergreen, CO; and sister, Sheri Wagner (Chicago). He also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren, Jayke (Jayde), Berit, Andrew, Kate, and Aliana.
He was an active member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota, and Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon, Minnesota, contributing to his community with his unwavering faith and commitment.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Denny; sister Lynda; and brothers-in-law Tom Wagner, Pat McCormick and Ed Aderhold.
A visitation will be held on August 8, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory in Alexandria, MN. Additional visitation will take place on August 9, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon, MN.
Robert R. Hefti will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to family, and the joyful spirit he brought to all who knew him. His legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Douglas County or Let’s Go Fishing, an organization that gets nursing home patients out to fish.
