Robert E. "Bob" Hettmansperger, 91, of Wabash and Noblesville, Indiana, died at 8:13 pm, Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. Robert was born on September 9, 1934, in Wabash County, to Garl and Mary (Gibney) Hettmansperger.
Robert was a 1953 graduate of Lagro High School. He was a farmer, spent time as a salesman for Farm Bureau, and joined Bob Brodbeck in 1968 as co-owner of Brodbeck Seeds. He married Susie Campbell on June 10, 1994 at the Honeywell House in Wabash. Bob was an active participant in the Independent Professional Seedsman Association, was a member of the Indiana Seed Trade Association Board of Directors, serving on several committees, was a part of the Indiana Crop Improvement Board of Directors, and the Wabash County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. He served eight years as chairman of Chippewa Farm Bureau. He loved his customers and selling seed. In his younger years he was a coach of the Chippewa Cub Scouts and Little League Teams. Robert was a Past Master of the Tuscan Masonic Lodge F & A. M. in Lagro, and a current member of the Hanna Masonic Lodge, where he was a 33rd Degree Mason. He was a member and deacon of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His true passion was driving the combine and planting straight rows. Bob and Susie enjoyed traveling and spending time together in Florida with their special friends. Many hours were also spent looking at corn!
Bob is survived by his wife Susie Campbell Hettmansperger of Noblesville; four children, Connie (Duane) King-Davis of Huntington, Indiana, Bobby (Angela) Hettmansperger of Silver Lake, Indiana, Jay T. (Cathy) Hettmansperger of Stanford, Kentucky, and Lori Hittle of Cicero, Indiana; Grandchildren, Chris (Keri) Shultz of Wabash, Abbey (Jason) Fowler of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Logan (Rileigh) Hettmansperger of Wabash, Matt (Lauren) Hettmansperger of Science Hill, Kentucky, Jason (Sara) Hettmansperger of Washington D.C., Haley (Ryan) Davis of Georgetown, Kentucky, Natalie Hettmansperger of Science Hill, Kentucky, and Lakin Hittle of Cicero, Indiana; Great-grandchildren, Beau Shultz, Gunner Shultz, Zoie Fowler, Russell Hettmansperger, Eloise Hettmansperger, Emma Hettmansperger, Jase Hettmansperger, Willow Hettmansperger, Harper Hettmansperger, Samantha Hettmansperger, Valerie Hettmansperger, Payton Pleasants, Eli Pleasants, Trevor Duncan, Asher Davis, and Soloman Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Hilton Hettmansperger, and sister Helen Shanks.
Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Tyler Leland officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, with a Masonic Service at 2:45 pm.
Preferred memorial is Bachelor Creek Church of Christ.
