Robert Jordan "Bob" Hickman

Robert "Bob" Jordan Hickman, 92, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022. He was born in Cincinnati, OH to the late Walter & Lela Hickman. Bob's life was filled with music from the start having fond memories of singing hymns of faith as he worshiped with his parents and brother at Norwood Baptist Church. He graduated from Walnut Hills High School, where he sang in the school choir and the well-known men's octet. Later, Bob graduated with honors from Georgetown College where he was a member of the A Capella Choir and College Quartet. On June 1, 1952, he married the love of his life, Wanda Beckley. After proudly serving in the US Army, Bob graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville) in 1958 with a Master of Sacred Music degree. Churches that Bob served in the past include: First Baptist Church of Middletown (Middletown, KY), Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (Anchorage, KY), Sunrise Baptist Church (El Paso, TX) and Central Baptist Church (Winchester, KY). In 1959, he was called to serve as the Minister of Music, Education and Youth at Florence Baptist Church (Florence, KY), where he served for 33 years until retirement. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Walter Hickman. Bob is survived by his loving of wife of 70 years, Wanda Hickman; children, Dan Hickman, Scott (Sherry) Hickman and Susan (Andy) Clifton; grandchildren, Rob (Sarah) Clifton and Kara Francis; great grandchildren, Cole, Elijah and Molly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21 from 9:30 – 11 AM with funeral services following at 11 AM at Stith Funeral Homes, Florence. Burial will be at 3 PM in Defoe Cemetery, Defoe, KY.
