Roy Earl Brickey

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Earl Brickey. Roy passed peacefully in his sleep on March 11, 2026. He was a long standing resident of Florence, KY where he was beloved by all who came to know him.

Roy was born in the mountains of Coeburn, VA where he led a simple life rooted in faith, family and service. He served his country well through both the Navy and the Army where he was awarded the Purple Heart during tumultuous times of war. Following his service, Roy relocated to KY where he met his loving wife Anna and they raised their two daughters.

Roy was always known as a tinkerer and master of trades. He was always whittling away at something or fixing a lawn mower for a neighbor. Any time someone needed help, he was there to lend a helping hand. He even took up making airplanes from old pop cans to sell at the local flee market in his spare time. When he wasn't tinkering away he was either strumming on his guitar and singing or cracking a joke. He will always be remembered for his boisterous personality and love for life.

Roy is proceeded in death by his two loving daughters Karen and Sandy, along with Sandy's husband Barry. He had three grandchildren; Jason, Jesse and Alexis. He was also blessed with 7 great grandchildren; Bryauna, Savannah, Zachary, Donovan, Jocelyn, Keira and Payton.

Funeral arrangements have been set for March 17th. His layout will be at 11:30am at Don Catchen Family Funeral home in Erlanger, KY. This will be followed shortly after by a graveside service at Floral Hills cemetery in Taylor Mill, KY. In light of the fact that Roy was an Irishman by blood and he is being laid to rest on St. Patrick's day, it would be an honor if you could show some holiday spirit and honor his name by wearing something green.
