It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Michael Holcomb, a beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend. With a fearless spirit and a deeply loyal heart, Rob left this world on August 12, 2024, while riding his beloved Harley, surrounded by the wind and the freedom he so cherished.
An individual of unique essence and a special presence since his birth on March 15, 1993, Rob lived humbly and loved deeply. Coming from a lineage of arborists, Rob followed in the footsteps of his late great-grandfather, William, Sr., his grandfather Bill and his father Dave, climbing to the highest treetops and attaining the prestigious Master Arborist certification, a distinction few in Connecticut hold. His journey led him through the mountains of Colorado for eight years, fulfilling his passions for the outdoors, snowboarding, and skateboarding and before returning home to his roots in New Hartford less than a week ago to be closer to his family. Rob was a multifaceted soul, a talented singer and songwriter whose music spanned genres from hip hop to punk rock. His adventurous spirit and daring pursuits left him with countless scars that told the tales of his many escapades. Yet, beneath his wild exterior, he carried a kind and giving heart, always ready to volunteer and lend a helping hand to those in need. May his spirit soar as freely and fearlessly as it did in life, and may his memory forever be a beacon of light in our hearts.
Rob is survived by his parents, David and Kelly (Yard) Holcomb; his older brothers, Paul Holcomb and his wife Melissa and Scott Holcomb and his fiancé Roxanne Mojica; and was an amazing and loving uncle to his niece and nephews, Paul, Jr., Ava and Matt Holcomb. He also leaves his grandmothers, Sue Holcomb and Valerie Holcomb, his aunts Sue Hincks and her husband Andy and Tabatha Luba and her husband Matt; uncles Bill Holcomb, III and his wife Debbie, Tim Holcomb, and Jim Holcomb and his wife Hillary; his cousins Will Holcomb, IV, Mikayla Green, Steve, Carrie and Alexa Hincks, Matt Holcomb, Juliana Bilodeau, Morgan and Shamus Holcomb, Jacob and Victoria Holcomb and Rileigh and Kory Luba. He was predeceased by his grandfather, William Holcomb, Jr., his grandmother Patricia Yard, and his uncle, Mike Holcomb.
Memorial contributions to support Rob's family may be made to the Go Fund Me that has been established using the following link: Honor Robert's Memory

My name is Jess and I lived with Rob for a year at a lake house with his partner at the time.

I went to so many of Rob´s music performances and was blown away by his talent and dedication. He took me for my first motorcycle riding experience with his friend. I ended up moving to Colorado after he did and we all went to a trip to see the ice castles. At this point I was a teacher and Rob told me he was proud of me. It meant so much to me. It reminded me of a low time back in CT where I had too much to drink and Rob carried me safely home and even tucked me in. Rob always made sure that women were safe. It was very clear that he was raised right. It meant so much to see him after making so many positive changes in my life and seeing how well we were both doing in Colorado.

I, like Rob also eventually returned home to be with my family. As a mother of boys now, my heart goes out to the family. My prayers go out to you during this painful time.

Just know that Rob was the kind of person who always told it how it was. He gave tough love to inspire people to be better. He cared about always doing the honorable thing. I´m proud to have known him and his parents should be very proud of who they raised. His legacy will live on and we will not forget him.

He was one of my favorite people. I will cherish the experiences we had. He was talented in everything. He bummed a cigarette from me every day. He will be missed. - Scholz

My first memory of him was when he joined the band, it was such a cool dude. I've had some funny moments with him like when they jammed in the house and neighbors got mad, I came in and told them thatthe neighbors were mad but Rob said "Tell them to call the police" it made me laugh so hard.

My most recent memory is the last show they did. Me and him were playing with the bar's bubble guns.

I really am gonna miss him..

As long as there is love, there will be grief. The grief of time passing, of life moving on half-finished, of empty spaces that were once bursting with the laughter and energy of people we loved.
As long as there is love there will be grief because grief is love's natural continuation.

It shows up in the aisles of stores we once frequented, in the half-finished bottle of wine we pour out, in the whiff of cologne we get two years after they've been gone.

Grief is a giant neon sign, protruding through everything, pointing everywhere, broadcasting loudly, "Love was here." In the finer print, quietly, "Love still is."
