Robert House Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A. G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. on Jul. 21, 2022.
Robert J. House Sr., age 72, of Fonda passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 20, 2022, at home with his family by his side.
He was born on September 26, 1949, in Schenectady, NY to Helen and James House. He was a graduate of the Class of 67 from Shenendehowa.
He joined the Navy in June of 1967 and served for 26 years active and reserved, primarily on the USS Brownson. While in the Navy he served in many places including London, Turkey, Greece, and Pakistan where he bought a camel! Yes, a camel, but only for a short time as he soon realized that camels were not allowed on the ship. From there he went on to work as a computer engineer for Unisys and Dell. He was known to his family as a member of the "Geek Squad". Robert loved serving his community and was a member of the Town of Mohawk Planning Board as well as working for Montgomery County Board of Elections.
Robert is survived by his wife, Cindy; son, Robert House Jr. (Amy); daughters, Elizabeth Raylinsky (Michael), Margery Starks, Marie LaPlant (Michael), Sara Nelson (Daniel), Amy Campione as well as several grandchildren, a great granddaughter; sister, Michelle Darmetko, and several nieces and nephews. All these survivors celebrate his life.
Robert had a passion for farming, the outdoors, the Green Bay Packers, and the color orange. He took pride in his garden and protected it with loving care and of course with his Kubota tractor. One of his favorite things to do was to take long walks with his wife. He also enjoyed driving around the beautiful Adirondack lakes taking in all the scenery. One of his favorite places to visit was New Port, Rhode Island. He loved it so much he would get in the car and drive there just for dinner!
To honor and celebrate Robert, there will be a visitation for family and friends that will be on Saturday July 23, 2022, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown. Service to immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, we briefly thought about contributions in Robert's memory being made to the Green Bay Packers (for a better chance at a Super Bowl) however donations would be of more use going to Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, https://regionalfoodbank.net or the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, https://www.nmcrs.org
