Robert E. Howell

In Loving Memory of Robert E. Howell 12/14/1935 - 12/16/2025
Robert E. Howell, Jr., went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2025, peacefully, at his home in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in San Antonio on December 14, 1935, to Robert and Delanie Howell. He graduated from Harlandale High School in 1954, and from Hardin-Simmons University in 1960, with a B.A. in Business.
Robert was a member of the Board of the Young Associates of Hardin-Simmons in 1975; President of Bexar Kiwanis Club from 1980-1981; President of the San Antonio Golf Association in 1982; Lt. Governor, Division 5, Texas-Oklahoma District, Kiwanis International from 1983-1984; a member of the Easter Seals Society Board; and a member of the Texas Cavaliers. He attended Bible Study Fellowship classes for many years and worked as a volunteer, at their headquarters, in San Antonio. He came to know the Lord in junior high, at Harlandale Baptist Church, where he and his family attended. Robert loved old church hymns and he sang in the choir at each church he attended.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Delanie Howell.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, the former Mary Zelime Lodovic; His son Brian Howell; daughter Zelime Crocker and her husband Adam; 8 grandchildren; Brittany Crocker McCall (Antonyo); Hannah Joiner (Jordan); Maloree Johnston (Nathanael); Allison Crocker; Melissa Crocker; Addison Crocker; Shannon Crocker; Wyatt Crocker; 7 great-grandchildren; Azrael; Liam; Wade; Winston; Langston; Walter; Charlie; and His younger brother Jimmy Howell.
Robert was known for his quick witted sense of humor, and always had a funny line to say to anyone and everyone. He had a love for all people and he never met a stranger. He loved playing golf and was a member of several bowling leagues. He enjoyed dove hunting and he vacationed nearly every summer down in Rockport, Texas where he spent many late nights and early mornings fishing with his family.
