In Loving Memory of Manuel Perez Lopez III 4/16/1954-11/28/2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Manuel Perez Lopez III. After a courageous 2 year battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme, he is finally able to rest in eternal peace. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Cheri Lopez. His siblings Carrie Guevara, Delores Aguilar, and Richard Lopez. Also by his daughter Anna Lopez Mooneyham( Jason) and his sons Joshua Lopez and Jonathon Lopez, plus many nieces and nephews.
The Marine corps was only 7 physical years, but was the soul of his being for his entire life. Semper Fidelis is Latin for Always Faithful and he had that mindset for everything he did. Marriage, family, work. He was dedicated to getting the job done. No matter how big or small. Truck driving came naturally. He enjoyed over five decades of being behind the wheel of big rigs and all aspects of motor transport in the Marine Corps & the LBNSY. He loved the road and the challenges it brought.
Upon meeting Cheri the day after Thanksgiving in a bar, he told her he was going to marry her that very night. 43 years-to the date he was gone. Just incredible. He was a hopeless romantic. Watching all the hallmark Christmas movies that exist and being excited to find out the annual Christmas music on the radio has actually started. His caring and loving was always present. His 3 children were very dear to him and a constant sense of pride.
His hobby of welding and mechanic ability were what he did in his spare time. But mostly his cooking and the baking. Oh the fabulous treats this man made. Cookies & pralines, empanadas, pies and cheesecakes. So wonderful. Truly enjoyed by all over the years.
Leaving this world at a young age of 71 was definitely not in his plans. He knew the burn pits of the overseas bases he was on was well documented in causing the Glioblastomas that ended up taking his life. He fought a good fight and enjoyed what he could while he could. He appreciated all that came to visit when visiting others became too much for him physically. And finally the Hospice teams that would be there to assist, as well as the many areas of Drs and staff at both BAMC and the Audie Murphy VA hospital. Everyone was so wonderful. It's so hard to say good bye, but farewell is a must. You will be missed. We love you so much!!
A private family funeral will be held at Fort Sam Houston cemetery in San Antonio.
