In Loving Memory of

Eugene Alphanso Llewellyn

09/24/1946 - 02/15/2026

Eugene Alphanso Llewellyn, age79, of San Antonio, passed away on February 15, 2026 from the effects of a stroke he suffered in July 2024.

Affectionately known as the "motorsickle man" (his pronunciation or Jamaican Gene. Eugene was born on September 24, 1946 to Donald & Sylvia (Cross) Llewellyn in Kingston, Jamaica. After the death of his father, he along with his mother and two older sisters came to the United States in 1967. Upon arrival in the United States, he would finish his remaining studies and obtain a high school diploma and his US Citizenship. His love of speed with four wheels but mainly two wheels would have him work at various motorcycle repair shops with a dream of one day having his own business. In October 1978, his goal came to fruition and Southeast Cycles opened its doors. For 40+ years Southeast Cycles was the go-to for motorcycle repair and parts sales on the southeast side of San Antonio until September 2019 when he decided to retire. Along with running a successful motorcycle repair business, he was also an avid drag racer, competing at the now defunct Alamo Dragway. His love for racing and the need for speed has carried onto his children and grandchildren who compete in different race associations both in two & four wheels. The most notable, NHRA PSM drag racer Peggy Llewellyn.

In 2019, Eugene retired from day-to-day operations of running a full-time business and spent his time looking after his six (6) tropical fish tanks, playing with his hobby helicopters and boats, watching Spurs games and NHRA races.

Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Donald A. Llewellyn, his mother, Sylvia (Cross) Llewellyn both of St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica, sisters Dulcie, Dell, Princess and brothers, Jack & Lascelles (Uncle Brother). He is survived by his sisters Peggy (Graham), Avis (Thompson) and half brother, Jephthah.

He is survived by his five (5) children: Valrie "Balrie", Eugene "Big Gene" Dukes (Roxanne), Peggy, Arlene "Rotunda" (Samuel) Wright and Genejr, his grandchildren Kevin Eugene, Marlon Ja'von, Dayzha Berlin "Turkey Butt", Marcellus, Arianna, Keyani, Kendall, Camren, Serina, Alonzo, Geaynamarie & Elyzha. Great grandchildren Zenoah "Baby Z" and a vast extended family and friends.

He was kind, patient, an optimist, resilient and above all a follower of Christ who enjoyed his Reggae music, Jamaican dishes of salt fish with green bananas, oxtail, stew chicken, and rice & peas.

He was loved and his presence will be deeply missed.
