In loving Memory of Jose Ynez Delgado Jr. 03/13/1945 - 12/10/2025
Jose Ynez Delgado Jr., age 80, was born on March 13, 1945, in New Mexico and passed away on December 10, 2025, in Boerne, Texas. He was the eldest son of Jose Ynez Delgado Sr. and Maria Elena Silva, and the firstborn of six children.
Known as "Joe" to his family and friends, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, Joe began his career with the State of California at Chino State Prison. He later served with the California Highway Patrol and the Sheriff's Department, where he sustained an injury that ultimately forced him into medical retirement. After a period of recovery, Joe successfully pursued reinstatement and returned to state service.
He resumed his career at Chino State Prison and later transferred to Ironwood State Prison, located near the California–Arizona border. After 35 years of dedicated service to the State of California, Joe retired, leaving behind a legacy of perseverance, resilience, and commitment to public service.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Ynez Delgado Sr. and Maria Elena Silva; four of his siblings, Gloria Contreras, Antonio Delgado, Eduardo Delgado, and David Delgado; his granddaughter, Sherri; and his great-granddaughter, Gracie Joe.
He is survived by his sister, Irene Rodriguez; his children, Khristina Delgado and Jerry Delgado; his grandchildren, Joseph, Angel, Alex, Rayna, Geovani, Ayashe, and Nayelli; his great-grandchildren, Nadia and Tuuki; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his dedication to service, family, and community.
He will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
