John Bernard Sohocki ll

7/22/1940 - 2/26/2026

John Bernard Sohocki II, MD, 85, passed away after a short illness on February 27, 2026. He will be remembered for the care he provided generations of patients as an Ophthalmologist in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Dr. Sohocki was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on July 22, 1940 to John Bernard Sohocki I, and Regina Mary Sohocki, both of whom were pharmacists. He attended the University of Michigan, where he joined the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He completed medical school at Wayne State University and an Ophthalmology internship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. After studying the Basic Sciences of Ophthalmology in Boston, Massachusetts, he joined the Navy and was assigned to Corpus Christi, Texas. There he began his Ophthalmology practice, which lasted more than 48 years.

Dr. Sohocki was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Tommy and Reginald Sohocki. He is survived by his loving wife, Faith Sohocki; his brother, Carl Sohocki; and his beloved children, Dr. John B. Sohocki III, Dr. Melanie Sohocki Trapani, George E. Sohocki, William R. Sohocki, and Chef Michael A. J. Sohocki. He also leaves behind his beloved stepchildren, Benjamin D. Owen, Joshua D. Owen, Louis G. Godeaux IV, Anthony A. Godeaux, and Jeremiah D. Godeaux, as well as the grandchildren he so dearly adored.

A celebration of Dr. Sohocki's life will be held at 10 am on April 27th at the Community Bible Church in San Antonio. The internment service will be held at 1 pm on April 28th at the Coastal Bend State Veteran's Cemetery in Corpus Christi.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dr. Sohocki's name to the Foundation Fighting Blindness or Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB).
