Robert Washington Hoyt

Robert Hoyt, born on December 27th, 1930, lived a long and blessed life. He passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 94. He was the oldest of 6 children.
He grew up in Whitehall, Georgia and met Myrtice Jones, who he married and moved to Seneca, S.C., where they started their family with their first child, a daughter. Soon after, they moved to Porterdale, Ga., and had 2 more daughters.
Robert worked for General Motors in Atlanta for 30 years before retiring to Covington, Ga. Robert purchased several properties in the Atlanta area during his time at General Motors. He loved working on them. After retirement, he spent 28 years with Johnnie Poulos, his 'partner in life' They built a home on 4 acres of land with a barn so that Robert could continue to do the things he loved, which included cutting his grass, and working on things in the barn. Robert was a hard worker with a witty sense of humor.
In the last 4 years of his life, The Holy Spirit guided him to accept Christ. He allowed others to help, which was difficult for him, he was deeply appreciative, had a loving spirit and was very generous to his family.
Robert is survived by 3 daughters, Loretta Cohen, Janice Spears, and Linda Hubbard, 7 grandchildren, Donnie Herrin, Rob Herrin, Brian Herrin, Tommy Hubbard, (Tammie), Amy Hubbard, Kelvin Moon, and Michael Moon. Robert has 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Buford Hoyt and Gladys Scoggins Hoyt and his 5 siblings.
Robert will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew and loved him. Robert's memory will remain in the hearts of family, friends and all those who were honored to have the privilege of knowing him.
The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2025. Visitation and viewing will be at 1:00 p.m., the service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Scot Ward Funeral Services which is located at 699 American Legion Rd NE., Conyers, GA., 30012. The Internment will be at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, located at the same address.
