He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Elmer Hughes and Eva Lois Martin; and brother, Leslie Hughes.
He is survived by his daughters, Brandy Dye (George) and Raven Varnes (Jeffrey); brothers, Burt Hughes (Robin), and Charles Hughes; sister-in-law, Lydia Hughes; grandchildren, Brailey Varnes, Ava Varnes, Elaina Varnes, Ryder Maddox, Tanis Blakeney, Devin Blakeney, Kobie Dye (Ryleigh), and Justen Dye (Pearl); and great-grandchildren, Emma Blakeney, Axel Blakeney, Rynlee Dye, and Ridge Dye.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Shady Grove Church of God at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM with a reception to follow after the service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee, MS.
