Ronnie Cockrell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tutor Funeral Home - Magee on Dec. 9, 2025.
Ronnie Cockrell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 5, 2025, at the age of 75. He was born on April 26, 1950, to R.V. Cockrell and Julie Kypreotis
in Magee, MS.
As a devoted family man, Ronnie's legacy continued to grow with the birth of each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very proud of every milestone and achievement, and he was a constant presence at sports games and school events.
Ronnie's enthusiasm wasn't reserved for his family alone; he was a sports fanatic through and through. Whether it was playing a round of golf with friends or watching football, he relished the thrill of competition and the camaraderie that came with it. His allegiance to the Georgia Bulldogs was legendary, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on, especially when he could share the experience with his grandson, Eric Hall. Their shared passion for the Bulldogs was more than just a pastime; it was a bond that transcended generations.
Ronnie's presence at local sporting events was a given, and he was often the loudest and most enthusiastic supporter in the stands. His knowledge of the game and his ability to recall statistics and player histories were second to none, earning him the affectionate title of "the walking sports encyclopedia" among his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Eric Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Neblett Cockrell; his daughters, Machelle (Ronald) and Trenia (Joey); his brothers, Bobby Cockrell and Steve Cockrell; five grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren with another one on the way, all of whom will continue to honor his legacy by living life to the fullest, just as he did.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 10, at Tutor Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Magee City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Wade, Casey Kemp, Tyler Wade, Eli Kemp, Ron Moseley, and Robert Vincent.
