Robert Arthur Hunt

Robert Arthur Hunt, our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, was born May 12, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Vennis Mickelsen and Robert William Hunt.  He had one sister Dolores, who was 18-months old at the time of his birth.  His father disappeared in 1935 after the death of his two-week-old sister, Edith Ilene. Bob looked for his father, Robert William Hunt his whole life, but he was never able to find him.

 

His mother married again and had two children, Kay Hansen and Roy Hansen Jr.  He had a hard childhood, but in-spite of what he had to go through, he graduated from Weber High School doing well in his studies.  He was a gifted artist. He was well liked and fun to be with.

           

When he was 19, he joined the Navy and began his service in Boot Camp in San Diego, California.  During his 20 years in the Navy, his orders took him to many places.  His first ship was the Essex Carrier ship assigned to patrol the South Korean waters. He lived in South Korea for three years. Later he was assigned to a ship, which would be patrolling the Vietnam waters. It was their assignment to help the French Colony get out safely before the Vietnam War officially started.

 

After his retirement from the Navy, he worked for Clinton City in maintenance for a while. Later he worked at Hill Field, first in instrument repair, and later as a Physiological Trainer Mechanic. He retired from Hill Field.

           

During his time in the Navy, Bob married and had two children, a son, Daniel, and a daughter, Vickie. He later divorced.

 

He retired from the Navy and was home for over a year when one night he met Loretta Good Tatton; two weeks later they were married and sealed in the Ogden Temple on October 7, 1978. They celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in May of 2022. They built a wonderful life together.

 

They lived in Sunset, later moving to Syracuse and back to Sunset.  They bought a home in Hooper where they spent many hours in decorating and landscaping. Whatever project Bob took on it had to be done to perfection. He was very gifted in whatever he endeavored to do. He had 17 ducks that would follow him around when he lived at this location. The home became too large for them, and they moved to Syracuse, to a home where yard work was provided.

 

Bob had a big heart and a great love for others. He planned a family reunion each year. Family meant so much to him. He will be greatly missed.

 

Bob is survived by his wife, Loretta; son, Daniel Hunt (Mia)and daughter, Vickie; sons, Curtis Tatton (Paula), Bart Tatton, Steve Tatton (Barbara); sister, Kay Lundell; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored him and he adored them.

           

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vennis; dad, Les Beal; sister, Dolores Byers; brother; Roy Hansen Jr.; niece, Michelle Byers; nephew, Shawn Byers; and daughter-in-law, Sherri Tatton.

           

Funeral service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 South 2000 West, Syracuse, Utah. Friends and relatives may visit the family on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30am. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery, 1250 South 1000 West, Syracuse, Utah.
