In the quiet early hours of Monday, November 10, 2025, Robert Marshal Hunt, 74, completed his journey in this life and set out on a new path toward everlasting peace.
Known as "Bob" among family and friends, Robert was born September 11, 1951 in Reading, PA to Marshal and Janet Hunt.
He attended schools in Hammond, IN and Norwalk, CT, later graduating from North Hills High School in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1969.
He continued his education at Gordon College in Boston, MA, where he pursued Biblical Studies, Theology, and was active with Young Life, leading hiking trips in Colorado.
He settled in Seattle, WA in the mid-70s, where he worked for 23 years in production at Boise Cascade and a subsequent 13 years as a production specialist at Genie Industries.
Ultimately, Robert's life was a journey measured not in years, but in peaks summited, trails wandered, and miles traveled on the open road. His spirit of adventure lives on in the many tales he shared of rock faces climbed, backpacking excursions, and motorcycle trips with good friends across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
He had a quick wit, with a seemingly endless supply of clever quips at the ready. He had a penchant for prose and poetry; a deep curiosity about, and understanding of, the mechanics of how things work; delighted in playing his guitar at church; and was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Now Robert meanders down a new trail on which he joins his father, Marshal Hunt; his mother, Janet Hunt (née Shotwell); his brother-in-law, Herbert A. Perry; and his beloved German Shepherd, Tanya, in eternal rest. He is survived by his siblings Carolyn Hunt (née Perry), Susan Hunt, and Jeffrey (Nancy) Hunt; his niece Amanda Hunt; and his nephew Ryan (Emily) Hunt.
Robert will be laid to rest in the Hunt family plot in Fairview Cemetery in Sussex, New Jersey in a private ceremony with close family members present.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made in his memory to the King County Library System Foundation. The Woodinville Library in Woodinville, WA, was a place Robert visited often and found joy surrounded by books and community. https://www.kclsfoundation.org/donate
