Robert Lee Hunt Sr., lovingly known as “Skeets,” age 85, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 8, 2026.
Skeets was born on November 20, 1940, in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, to Robert and Evelyn Hunt, both of whom preceded him in death.
He proudly served in the United States Army in his early twenties. Skeets worked for Bryant Heating and Cooling as a press operator and retired after 37 years of dedicated service. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved all animals, especially dogs. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting old coins, guns, bows and arrows, and pocket knives.
He is survived by his son, Joseph M. Hunt; his daughter, Rhonda L. Mitchem; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, William Hunt (Linda); several nieces and nephews; wonderful neighbors; and his faithful dog, Pepper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Linda K. Hunt; his two sons, Robert L. Hunt Jr. and Darrell R. Hunt; his grandmother, Bessie Coleman; and his beloved German Shepherd, Gracie.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park North. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m.
