BLOOMFIELD, VT – Robert W. Hurley, 80, of Bloomfield died on Friday, Sept. 19, 2024, at the home of his brother, Philip, in Columbia, after a recent period of declining health.
He was born in Island Pond, Vt., on March 30, 1944, the second son to the late Alton and Grace (Weatherstone) Hurley.
Bobby worked at many places over the years, including at the Washburn Lumber Mill and the Stratford Plywood Mill in North Stratford, for Ethan Allen in both Island Pond and in Beecher Falls, on the railroad in Stratford, and for a long period in the boiler room at Tillotson Rubber Co. in Dixville. He also worked for Mike Belknap for a long time, where he loved to cut, split and stack firewood. Robert also loved to go hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a son, Jimmy Lee Hurley of North Stratford; two brothers, Philip and his wife Robin of Columbia, and Richard and his wife Rachel of Columbia; and three nieces and four nephews.
Robert is predeceased by a sister, Betty, and a brother, William "Snookie" Hurley.
There are no public calling hours. A graveside committal service will be held in the Fairview Cemetery in North Stratford on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at 10 a.m.
