Robert J. “Handle” Roberts age 87, of Muse, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 7th, 2025, in McMurray Hills Manor. He was born on February 24th, 1938, in Canonsburg Hospital. The son of the late Thomas and Anne Patronie Roberts. On May 7, 1960, he married the love of his life and favorite dancing partner, Lucy L Luba Roberts, who survives after 65 years of marriage. They moved to Ohio where Handle worked at Ford Motor Co. then moved back to Hendersonville before settling into their long-time home in Muse, Pa. Handle and Lucy moved into their daughter Linda’s house for care in June of 2025. Handle worked at Mac plastics, became a Cecil township supervisor, a fireman and president of the Muse Fire Department, and a bartender at the White Eagles and SNPJ Lodge 138. He was a member of many clubs including SNPJ Lodge 138, White Eagles, the Washington Horseshoe club, and Muse Italian Club. Handle loved his Polka music and even learned how to play the button box. Every Saturday and Sunday you could catch Handle listening to his favorite Polka radio station. He loved going to dances with his wife listening to some of his favorite bands playing. Handle loved to bowl, play horseshoes, and softball where he was the pitcher and in charge of hosting the famous Old Timers versus Young Bucs softball game in Muse, for many years. Left behind to cherish his life in addition to his devoted wife are two brothers Thomas and Joseph (Kathy) Roberts, sister in-law Loretta Roberts, three beloved children Robert ‘Scrubby’ Roberts, Linda Lyons, and Marcy (Phil) Boggio. Seven grandchildren Lacey (Kris) Small, Jarrett (Brandy) Lemonakis, Harley Roberts, Abigayle (Kenny) Boggio, Anthony (Hannah) Boggio, Hannah Roberts, and Alek Boggio. Four great grandchildren Matteo, Mila, Jonah, Thomas and many nieces and nephews. Handle is proceeded in death by his parents Thomas and Anne, three brothers Andrew (Andy), William (Billy), Melvyn, sisters-in-law Fran and Ruth Roberts, his parents’ in-law Thomas and Wilma Luba, and his son in-law Leroy Lyons.
Friends and Family are welcome Monday November 10th from 1 pm until 5 pm, the time of Catholic Blessing services in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120. Interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp. will be private.
