Robert "Bob" Janke of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the age of 72.
Bob was a quieter man with an innate sense of adventure. He rode motorcycles in his early adulthood, and continued appreciating them beyond his riding days. He told stories of taking solo ski trips. Enjoyed deer and duck hunting with a dog at his side. The Wisconsin Dells was a place where he always made time to ride the Wisconsin Ducks, went horseback riding, kayaked and even zip lined.
An avid animal lover, if there was a dog at an event, it found Bob. He regularly reflected kindly on memories of birdwatching with his mother. So it's no surprise that he was also a long-standing Zoological Society member. The Milwaukee County Zoo was a place he often visited with his late wife, family and grandkids. He was excited when their bi-annual magazine arrived, and it was not uncommon for him to update the family on the most recent Zoo developments.
Bob was a life-long Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Admirals fan, part of the Admirals booster club in the 70s. He also served as a custodian for Wauwatosa Schools for 30 years before retiring.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend. His quiet humor and supportive nature will be deeply missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Debra, and his parents. He is survived by his children Mary-Agnes, Robert (Mary), and Constance; grandchildren Robert and Anna; dog Daisy; and his younger brother and four sisters.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
For those who wish to create a donation in his name, please consider the International Crane Foundation, Milwaukee County Zoo, Forest Exploration Center or Wisconsin Humane Society.
