Robert Charles "Beau" Jaynes, 79 of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at his home. He was the husband of Desiree (DiPadova) Jaynes with whom she shared the last 18 years of marriage.

He was born on March 19, 1946 in Lowell and was a son of the late Noble and Irene (Malliares) Jaynes. He was raised in Lowell, where he attended the area schools.

For over 34, Beau worked with the City of Lowell Department of Public Works until his retirement in 2011 as a Foreman. He also dedicated his summers to helping out at the summer program at Shedd Park with the DPW/recreation department.

The name Beau Jaynes is synonymous with boxing in Lowell and he was one of the finest boxers to ever come out of the Mill City. "Irish Beau Jaynes", as he was known, boxed in the Silver Mittens and later the Golden Gloves, winning the 1965 New England Golden Gloves as a featherweight and finished his amateur career with a record of 37-9. He made his professional debut later in 1965, winning his first bought as a pro. Over his 15 year professional career, he held 5 different titles across 4 different weight classes. Known for his solid chin and good combinations, he traveled all over the world as a boxer and took great pride in his storied boxing career, retiring in 1980.

In his retirement he kept in great shape, he loved getting out for walks, especially around Shedd Park with his beloved dog, Beaudena. Beau had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him and forever remembered as a true "Lowell Legend".

In addition to his wife, Desiree, he is survived by five children, Tammy Jaynes, Kelly Jaynes, Colleen Jaynes and her companion, Dean Rainone, Bobby 'Bopper' Jaynes and his companion, Mellissa Baez, and Heather Jaynes and her companion, Darren McDonald; 3 stepsons, his mother in law, as well as many grandchildren, step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Hebert and her husband, Al, of Florida, Robin Lopilato and her husband, Andrew, of North Carolina and Jimmy Jaynes of Dover, NH, his close friend Bruce.and of course, his beloved dog, Beaudena.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister the late Margaret "Peggy" Jaynes and his father in law.

At his request there will be no formal funeral service or calling hours. At some point in the future, Beau will be memorialized and honored and those details will be announced here on our web site and on Facebook.
