Robert J. Jessop Sr.

Robert J. Jessop, Sr., age 92, passed away peacefully in the afternoon hours of Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Kent County Hospital in Warwick. He was the beloved husband of JoAnne (Carrier) Jessop to whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Born in South Providence, he was the oldest of three children born to the late Owen B. and Eleanor M. (Moran) Jessop.

He proudly and honorably served his nation with the U.S. Navy retiring after 20 years of service. During that time, he was stationed at Quonset, Newport and served in the Mediterranean before his retirement. After his discharge, he worked for Algonquin LNG for over 25 years before retiring as an office manager. Above all else, he was most proud of his role as 'Papa' and spending time with his grandchildren was one of his favorite ways to spend his time.

He was the devoted father of Robert J. Jessop, Jr., Gary O. Jessop (wife, Kelly), Thomas Jessop and Brian Jessop (wife, Helena); cherished 'Papa' of Samantha, Katelyn, Mark and Shannon and 'Great-Papa' of Natalie, Owen and Jax. He was the brother of Eleanor Andrews and the late William Jessop.

A Visitation will be held Friday, February 6, 2026 from 10am to 12pm with a Funeral Ceremony at 12pm in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Interment with Full Military Honors will immediately follow in the RI Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Warwick Fire Department, 111 Veterans Memorial Dr., Warwick, RI 02886 are greatly appreciated.
