Robert Lawrence Johnson Jr. (Bobby), 63, of Hixson, TN went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2025 at his home following a year's battle with cancer.
Bobby was born January 2, 1962 to the late Robert L. Johnson Sr. and Sarah E. Holland (Jerry). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-father Jerry Holland Sr.; brother Wally Johnson; and sister Donna Tennyson. He was of the baptist faith , and during younger years attended Mile Straight Baptist Church in Soddy- Daisy.
Bobby was a long-time active volunteer firefighter in the Soddy-Daisy and Hixson communities. He began serving with the Dallas Bay Fire Department; served at Sequoyah Fire Department attaining rank of Assistant Fire Chief; and was an active member of Mowbray Mountain Fire Department prior to his illness. In addition, he served with the water rescue squadron of Hamilton County Emergency Services.
Bobby worked many years as a long-haul truck driver. Locally, he worked with Brown Brothers Grading, Excavation, and Utility Company, and was employed at Shelter Construction, Inc when he became ill.
In his part-time, Bobby enjoyed fishing, hunting, and supporting VOLS football.
Survivors include his wife Marsha Dove Johnson; son Robert Lawrence Johnson III (Kayla) of Hixson; Two step-sons Brandon Dove (Kim) of Centerville, TN, and Christopher Bearden (Kali) if Hixson, TN; Three special grandchildren Isabella Johnson, Chloe Stanfield, and Zanidy Jones; Two step- brothers Jamie Johnson, and Jerry Holland Jr.; Two step-sisters Vickie Holland and Beverly Holland.
Funeral Services will be held at Mowbray Mountain Fire Hall on Saturday June 28, 2025. Family will receive friends at 1:00 pm EDT prior to the service at 2:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mowbray Mountain Fire Department 1705 Mowbray Pike Soddy Daisy, TN 37379, Your local firefighters, or a charity of your choice.
Family is served by Companion Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
